I Know Who You Are

Lately I have been learning about who I am. I am not just learning about who I am, but who you are. I might not even know you face to face, but I know more about you than you realize. If you are in Christ you are a new creation, and because I know Christ I know you. If you have a relationship with Him, He is your source whether you feel it or not. He is the breath in your lungs, and the song on your tongue.

I have been meditating on Colossians 3 lately. Paul calls the church in Colossians liers. He writes to them who are having issues with anger, slander, obscene talk, etc… He said when you do those things you are lying about who you are! You are not rage-aholics or crude men.

“But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.” Colossians 3:8-10

He writes later to another church who has having issues with lawsuits, homosexuality, and many other things that they ought to not even address each other in regards to these issues! In other words, if you are being sued by your brother look at him for who he is, a new creation, perfect in Christ, holy, or in today’s language, an awesome dude!

“From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh… Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” – 2 Corinthians 5:16-17

It takes faith to see people not according to how the world sees them. It takes leaning on Christ, but His words are more true than how we feel, think or act. He is the author and perfecter of who we are. He is the one and only. His words have weight to them and they are trustworthy.

He is called the Ancient of Days. Generations have passed and who are we to raise our opinions against His? He has much more skin in the game since He gave His life for us.
