Sarah and I's 1 and a 1/2 year anniversary is coming up. We never thought we would be spending it in Guatemala. There is another anniversary that recently passed. Two days ago I looked back on 8 years of knowing Jesus. I was born in the Spirit 8 years ago.

There is something about looking back and seeing God move in various ways. There have been hard times. Following the Lord has not been easy all the time, but in another sense it is easy. The decisions we make are not always what we want here and now, but when you take a step back, the tough decisions are a no brainer. Should I be faithful to The Father, yes or no? Yes is always worth it.

Jesus told this story:

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. (Matthew 13)

Jesus is not like anyone I know. My wife is patient with me, she definitely is. She is meek, is okay following me when I am wrong, just to show me she loves me. She is wonderful. But compared to Jesus, no contest. Jesus has been faithful to me in unthinkable ways.

On the 28th I wrote out poetically all the times in the last 8 years that have been joys and the things that have been hard. At the end it was the overflow of my heart to write, "He has never left, and He never will."

He has taught me wisdom beyond my peers. He has given me the gift of tears more than most I know. He has given me joy that I didn't learn from anyone on this earth. There is not one thing I have that has not been given to me by my Father.

The last few days I am full of thanks for the Lord and how He has been beyond faithful to me. My cup runs over, surely goodness and mercy, kindness and wisdom will follow me all the days of my life.

In light of celebrating 8 years with the Lord. He has impressed upon me to write out the core teachings I would pass on to those He has given me. These next few weeks/months I plan on writing those core teachings on this blog. Tune in in the next month(s) for this series.
